Hello! I’m Pastor Erin Clausen. I’m glad you found me! Whether you’ve landed on this page on purpose or on accident, I’m glad you’re here! Whether you’re thinking about coming to worship, looking for a new community, wondering who we are and what we’re about, wondering what the Lutheran church believes, or even just browsing around, I would love to take time to chat with you. Feel welcome to email me or call (708-246-6228) or stop by St. James.
I began serving St. James on July 6, 2009, after graduating from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago in May, 2009. I’m passionate about sharing God’s story of good news — that God is still bringing healing to the world (and invites us to join in) — with everyone I meet. I find this exciting (God wants help from me! and you!), and I’m passionate about participating in the process – through Word and Sacrament (Lutheran-speak for “worship service”) – and also through working with God’s people to bring healing and change in the world.
My spouse and I have 3 children, 2 cats, and 2 tortoises. I have volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, the Northwest Center Against Sexual Assault, and Women In Need Growing Stronger. I believe that every person – no matter how young or “experienced” – can experience transformation through God’s grace and can help to transform the world through that same grace.
St. James is in a period of renewal, making decisions about how to move into the future. Convinced that we are called to be Christ’s healing presence in the world, we seek to follow God’s lead in ministries that provide respite and peace, as well as excitement and community. We believe that Jesus brings transformation to our lives and our world.
If you want to explore what it means to be “church” in this time and this place, this is the place to be! If you’re not sure that you like “church,” check out Welcome Inn to meet people who aren’t sure either! If you need to experience healing and transformation, this is the place for you! If you want to be with people who believe God brings healing, welcome here!
